We interviewed Kosuke Adachi, an engineer at giftee Inc., an e-gift platform company. We supported the development and quality testing of the “giftee Loyalty Platform” web application through a long-term lab contract with the web application development team of Vareal Vietnam, a wholly owned subsidiary of our company.

A major plus point of the team is the ease of communication. Team members are friendly, enthusiastic, and proactive in their approach to the project, which helps the development process run smoothly. When a member’s skills don’t match, we can find a replacement within a week of contacting the person in charge. Development is never stalled due to a member’s absence, and we are very pleased with the quick response. On the other hand, we have difficulty using members specializing in quality assurance (QA). Communicating detailed data settings and use case nuances required for QA in English, which are expected to be used in a production environment, is challenging, and we feel the communication cost would become too high. For this reason, QA is currently handled by internal members.
Our company, Gifty, focuses on the e-gift platform sector, providing seamless services to content partners, from e-gift issuance to distribution and sales.
* What are e-gifts?
E-gifts are gifts that are converted from convenience store or branded products into URL links that can be easily sent via LINE or email. By simply sending a URL link, you can easily run a gift-giving campaign, significantly reducing shipping and labor costs.
The “Giftee Loyalty Platform,” which Vareal has just joined, is a solution that helps boost customer product usage and create more brand fans by allowing brands to sell e-coupons, travel tickets, and subscription packages as e-gifts on their own websites.
During the development of the “Giftee Loyalty Platform” as a new solution, we frequently lacked development resources, so we sought a system development company with the technical skills and abundant engineering resources to contribute immediately.
I think there are two main points.
Firstly, there is the flexibility in changing the organizational structure.
The combination of project managers and engineers can be flexibly changed. I also think it’s a good idea for them to suggest a member specializing in quality testing.
The second benefit is that we have reduced development costs.
Once the project was on track, we were able to reduce the workload of the Japanese project manager and communicate directly with the Vietnamese programmers in English, resulting in reduced development costs.
Communication is primarily conducted through group chats, a task management system is established using a support request form system, and regular meetings are held every two weeks. Many people are proactive, and communication in English is smooth and problem-free.

I think their strengths lie in their high level of development expertise and flexibility in team work planning, so I would recommend them for medium to large-scale development projects where resources are often limited.
